So I come across this all the time: "We can't use Twitter" or "Twitter is useless" or "Facebook has no real marketing value". Really? Just because Twitter and Facebook are not magazines, news website, or TV stations with advertising space you're used to does not mean they don't have marketing value. They do, and I'll get to that in a minute. First off, however, I would like to address something.
Not comfortable with these emerging marketing mediums? Think you do not need to jump on the bandwagon yesterday? Think again. If you are involved in marketing you need to understand that the landscape of which we live our lives changes at an accelerating pace. Once upon a time people would start and finish careers in marketing and their jobs would involve the same work from their 20s through retirement. Now through the future effective marketing strategies today will be obsolete 20 years from now. Sound outrageous? Let's take a look at marketing avenues, their adoption rates, and their outlook in chonological order.
